As a barbecue enthusiast, I was excited to try out the Camp Chef PG24MZG SmokePro Slide Smoker with Fold Down Front Shelf Wood Pellet Grill. I had seen great reviews for this product online, and I was eager to see how it performed in my own backyard.
One of the standout features of this grill is its versatility. The Slide and Grill function allows you to smoke, grill, bake, roast, braise, and barbecue all on one device. This is perfect for those who enjoy cooking a variety of dishes on their grill. The Premium wood-fired flavor adds a great touch to any meal, and the digital controls make it easy to adjust the temperature and cooking time.
The new PID controller is another great feature. It allows for a 1-10 smoke setting, which is not WIFI compatible. It makes it easy to check the internal temperature of your food or adjust the grill temperature with the push of a button. I found this to be very intuitive and easy to use.
One of my favorite features of the Camp Chef PG24MZG grill is the easy ash cleanout system. Cleaning between cooks has never been easier. Simply pull the lever, and the ash falls into a convenient tray. This is a feature I have not seen on other grills, and it makes cleaning up a breeze.
The grill was very easy to assemble and start up. I was able to get cooking in just a few minutes. The walk-through assembly video on the Camp Chef site was incredibly helpful and allowed me to set up the grill without any issues.
The folding front shelf is also a nice touch. It provides extra space for prep work and can be easily tucked away when not in use. The PGFS24 full-sized folding shelf is a $74 MSRP that comes with the grill.

Overall, despite its good points, I found it hard to love the Camp Chef PG24MZG SmokePro Slide Smoker because although its versatility and easy-to-use features make it a solid choice for a mid-level smoker, at this price I would have liked to see a few extra features. The build quality is superior, but I did find a few small flaws that, frankly, at this price, I wouldn’t have expected.
